Accounting Has Finally 'Made It'

President George W. Bush, in his State of the Union Address on January 29, said, "Through stricter accounting standards and tougher disclosure requirements, corporate America must be made more accountable to employees and shareholders and held to the highest standards of conduct."

Did any other State of the Union address ever include a reference to accounting? I don't recall it ever happening in my lifetime. I guess we've finally made it to the big time.
