A Nation United—Enduring and Resilient

The country has begun its recovery from the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and their aftermath, but each day’s work resounds with painful memory. The cover of this month’s issue was chosen to reflect our thoughts at this time when words have never been less adequate.

We extend our deepest condolences to all who have suffered loss as a result of this tragedy. To everyone in the professional and business communities, New York and elsewhere, whose acts in the rescue and relief efforts exemplify selflessness and heroism, we offer our deepest thanks and respect.
