Website of the Month: Tax Links

CPAs know better than anyone that tax season never really ends: Loose ends, extensions, interim filings, and keeping up to date on tax law consume the remainder of the year. Online resources have become increasingly important to the tax specialist and taxpayer alike, and one effective website is Tax Links (www.taxlinks.com), which bills itself as “the only complete IRS revenue ruling database online.”

With a straightforward design, fast-loading pages, and current links everywhere, Tax Links is organized into five simple areas: tax forms, free databases, federal materials, state materials, and tax organizations. The homepage shows the two or three subcategories within each major area.

Tax Links is especially notable for its links to online databases of IRS revenue procedures (1995 to present) and IRS revenue rulings (1970 to present). No free compilation of IRS private letter rulings is available on the Internet yet, but when it is, Tax Links will almost certainly add that to its user-friendly range of resources.
