IMA names Robert E. Bell president-elect

Earlier this year, Robert E. Bell, Jr., became president-elect of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the world's largest organization dedicated to advancing management accounting and financial management. Bell's appointment was announced at the IMA's 81st Annual Conference in Philadelphia; he assumed office on July 1. Bell will succeed Frank C. Minter as IMA president in 2001.

Bell currently chairs the IMA's strategic planning committee. Since his first association with the IMA in 1973, Bell has served in numerous capacities, including national director, academic relations committee chair, and area vice president.

Currently the CEO of Hickory Brands, Inc., Bell previously worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. in Charlotte, N.C., and with the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of the Citadel and a member of the AAA and the AICPA.
