The online accounting portal field is busy, one of its more recent entrants being CPAdirectory.com. Having launched in March and billing itself as “The essential resource for CPAs,” it plans to build an online nationwide directory of CPAs.
A basic directory listing is free, but for $125 per year, CPAs can purchase a detailed directory listing that includes a link to their website. The directory can be searched by name, geographic location, and industry focus.
CPAs who buy an enhanced directory listing also have access to the CPA-only sister website CPAdirect.com, which provides free online trading, real-time quotes, online CPE, classified ads, and resume posting.
To draw consumers and nonaccounting professionals to the website, CPAdirectory.com offers search capabilities of its national database of 450,000 CPAs, as well as research resources in the areas of taxes, small-business issues, individual investing, and career information.
Although the services for CPA users vs. non-CPA users could be better delineated, the website is well organized and easy to navigate. Registering for an e-newsletter allows users to be kept up-to-date on accounting news and improvements to the website. While still a work-in-progress, as all good websites are, CPAdirectory.com is off to a solid start in what is quickly becoming a crowded niche.
The CPA Journal is broadly recognized as an outstanding, technical-refereed publication aimed at public practitioners, management, educators, and other accounting professionals. It is edited by CPAs for CPAs. Our goal is to provide CPAs and other accounting professionals with the information and news to enable them to be successful accountants, managers, and executives in today's practice environments.
