WELCOME VERMONT CPAS

It is my pleasure to welcome the members of the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) as readers of The CPA Journal. Beginning this month, they will receive The CPA Journal as one of their member benefits. The Vermont Society, under the leadership of President Bettina MacLeod, CPA, President Elect Richard Engel, CPA, and Executive Director Deborah Riley, has been reexamining how it serves and communicates with its members. It concluded that member and Society activities can most effectively be communicated through a quarterly newsletter and its website and decided to turn the job of informing members on technical, professional, and business issues over to The CPA Journal. We are very pleased with the decision and look forward to a long and rewarding relationship.

In addition to a geographical border and major media markets, Vermont and New York have many things in common. For example, both CPA societies are holding meetings at the Equinox Hotel in Manchester Village, Vermont. The Vermont Society is hosting its annual meeting there on May 18, at which time it will install Richard Engel, CPA, as president for the year beginning May 1. The NYSSCPA visits the Equinox June 58 for its annual conference.

The Vermont Society's office is in Montpelier, the state capital, and its website address is www.vtcpa.org. Ski conditions are not yet available on the website, but other information about upcoming events important to CPAs soon will be.

Welcome Vermonters. Be sure to let us know how we can help you achieve your professional goals. *
