Dennis R. Beresford's term as chair of the Financial Accounting Standards
Board ends June 30 after completing two five-year terms. The CPA Journal
recently conducted an interview with him, which will be presented in an
upcoming issue. The editors of The CPA Journal have come to know
and respect Denny for his leadership and professional statesmanship. He
was always accessible and willing to speak openly and forthrightly about
the issues that were driving the work of FASB. During his chairmanship,
the board accomplished a great deal in spite of some very significant challenges
to the very underpinnings of private-sector standard setting. The editors
express their thanks to Denny for a job well done and wish him the very
best as he moves to the academic setting at the University of Georgia.
