ACCOUNTANTS FOR THE PUBLIC INTEREST OFFERS SOLUTIONS
Accountants for the Public Interest (API) is a national nonprofit organization through which volunteer accountants donate their time and expertise. API assists small and start-up businesses, nonprofit organizations, charities, and low-income individuals. This volunteer service is carried out by a growing network of API Affiliates who last year served almost 50,000 organizations and individuals.
API has developed a set of guidebooks designed to take the anxiety out of running a small business or nonprofit. These guides illustrate the basic principals of nonprofit accounting and other important management concerns. The books are designed for accounting and business professionals who volunteer their time and skills to the nonprofit sector.
What a Difference Preparation Makes: a Guide to the Nonprofit Audit provides practical guidance to the management and staff of nonprofits preparing for an audit. What a Difference Nonprofits Make: a Guide to Accounting Procedures helps officers of nonprofit organizations to learn nonprofit accounting procedures. What a Difference Understanding Makes: Guides to Nonprofit Management is a five-booklet series that the API hopes gives answers nonprofits need to "steer clear of obstacles and lead their organizations to success."
To learn more about API and our volunteer services or these publications one may call (202) 347-1668 or fax (202) 347-1663. *
