Phillip Zimmerman, author of an article on the use of mediation by CPAs that appeared in the June 1995 issue of The CPA Journal, is chair of a mock mediation between a CPA firm and its client, which will be conducted at the NYSSCPA accounting show to be held in New York City. The date and time for the mock presentation is May 21, 1996, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. at the New York Hilton. Zimmerman is a staunch believer that CPAs need to take greater advantage of the benefits of alternate dispute resolution techniques such as mediation. The time to discuss ADR and mediation with clients is before work begins so that it can be made a part of the engagement letter. Zimmerman said the mock mediation will be videotaped and available for purchase at a later date. *
